600 E. Superior Street, Duluth, 218-726-1392. This National Historic Register brewery (Duluth's first) dates back to 1857. During prohibition, Fitger's manufactured pop and candy bars.
- The Outpost Kayak and Canoe Institute
South on Highway 45 and follow signs for Jay Cook State Park. Just east of Carlton you will go over a steel bridge and the Institute is just past the bridge on the left. Check out the white water under the bridge.
- Frank Lloyd Wright Gas Station
Highway 33 and Cloquet Avenue in Cloquet. Designed in 1956 by famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright, this unique three-level gas station was built in 1958.
- Glensheen Historic Estate
3300 London Road, Duluth, 218-726-8910. The 1906 National Historic Register Jacobean-style mansion contains original furnishings, a carriage house and clay tennis courts.
- Great Lakes Aquarium and Freshwater Discovery Center
353 Harbor Drive, Duluth, 218-740-3474. America's only all-freshwater aquarium features over 70 species of freshwater fish and 30 species of other animals.
- Vista Tours
Dinner boat tour of the twin port facilities in Duluth.
- Lake Superior Zoo
7210 Fremont Street, Duluth, 218-723-3748. The zoo is home to more than 500 animal species, including several endangered ones.
- Leif Erikson Rose Garden
13th Avenue East and London Road, Duluth, 218-723-3425. This beautiful garden contains over 3000 rose bushes, a variety of herbs, a fountain and a marble gazebo.
- Ore Docks Observation Platform
35th Avenue West & Superior Street, Duluth. The platform provides a view of ship loading operations at the Duluth, Missabe and Iron Range Railway Company docks.
